Hotel booking is handled by the Aachen tourist service. For this purpose a booking form is available here that you can fill in and send to the Aachen tourist service by fax or "snail" mail. Deadline is July-23-2001. If you book via this form, the Aachen tourist service will book a room that is in walking distance from the conference venue. The conference will be held in the Kármán-Auditorium (location 3 on the map) which hosts some of the central lecturing halls of the RWTH Aachen. They are located in the city center opposite of the university main building of the RWTH (location 4 on the map). The Kármán-Auditorium is located adjacent to the pedestrian area of the city; pubs, restaurants and shops are in close proximity. The tutorials will take place in lecturing rooms Fo 6, Fo 7 and Fo 8. The conference tracks will take place in Fo 4, Fo 5 and one of Fo 6, 7 or 8. The opening session on Wednesday will take place in Fo 4. All lecturing rooms are located on the second floor. The foyer will host the registration desk and will also be used for coffee breaks. | |||||||||||||||

Both tutorial and conference registration are handled by the VDE office in Frankfurt. The registration forms can be found below. The preferred method for payment is per credit card. If you can not pay per credit card, still fill in the registration form, but leave the credit card details open, and fax it to the address mentioned on the form. The VDE conference organisation will then send you a bill which will include all the necessary money tranfer information,. Please make sure that all possible costs involved in the money tranfer are taken over by you or your organisation ("Spesenfreie Überweisung"). We can only consider you as registered whenever the money transfer has been completed. Registration to the tutorialThe tutorial registration form (PDF-file) is available with fees given in Euro or DM. On the registration form you have to select the tutorial you want to visit (click here for the tutorial programme). Material for your selected tutorials (papers, copies of slides, etc.) will be distributed at the conference. We plan to make all the tutorial material available electronically, for all tutorial participants. Registration to the conferenceThe conference registration form (PDF-file) is available with fees given in Euro or DM. Regular PresentationsThe slots for regular paper presentations are 30 minutes long. Be prepared for a 20- to 25-minute talk so as to allow time for questions. Please note that overrunning time is impolite towards fellow speakers in your session, as well as towards the audience. All lecturing rooms will be equipped with an overhead projector, a beamer and a blackboard. We do not provide laptops. Get Together PartyTuesday night (September 11, 19:00) there will be a get-together party in the "Gewölbekeller" underneath the main building of the RWTH (location 4 on the map). The entrance to this "keller" is just across the right corner of the building (when you are standing in front of it) through a relatively small door. There will be a registration desk opened during the get-together party.Conference DinnerThursday night (September 13, 20:00 onwards) the conference dinner will take place in Restaurant Ratskeller (location 5 on the map). This restaurant is located in the cellars of the medieval townhall where once upon a time Charlemagne held office. Extra banquet tickets can be bought at the registration desk. | |||||||||||||||
