Location
The conference takes place in the Sir Alexander Fleming (SAF) Building on the South Kensington Campus of Imperial College London. You can find comprehensive instructions on how to get to the venue on the College website. The Sir Alexander Flemming building is no. 33 on the map. The reception will be in 58 Prince's Gate, building no. 23 on the same map. The banquet on Wednesday evening will be in 170 Queen's Gate, this is building number 24 on the map.
Queen's Tower
As you can see from the programme we have access to the Queen's Tower Monday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon. There should be time to climb up the tower (about 300 steps) for about ten small guided groups of eight visitors each. Anyone wanting to take part needs to sign up at the registration desk. You also need to be on time for your tour as we won't be able to wait. We also won't be able to allow anyone up the tower who has not signed up. The tower is about 87m (287 feet) tall and the top staircases are very narrow, think about this before you sign up. You will need to wear sensible clothes (the top of the tower is likely to be windy) and shoes.Things To Do
Here is a short list of things to do outside the workshop. This is by no means all you can do but just a very small and biased selection starting off with places to eat.
Places to Eat
Two places the organizers can recommend are for instance, the Queens Arms which provides traditional British pub food, and there is Jakob's which is a restaurant. There are also plenty of other restaurants alon g Kensington High Street, Gloucester Road and near South Kensington tube station.
